Benefits for Michigan Children

One of Schuette’s first acts as AG was to try to overturn a decision by a state agency to grant benefits to children of unmarried couples, at least one of whom was a state employee.  Schuette lost in the trial court, and he lost again before the Michigan Court of Appeals.  The Michigan Supreme Court then refused to hear his case.  His herculean efforts to strip benefits from children to score partisan points and cozy up to social conservative donors is all the more glaring when set against his complete inaction on the issues above.
